Spry Canyon

On July 22nd, 2017, Anthony Dye, Byron Lemay, Tony, Steph, and I woke up at the crack of early to avoid the heat.  Our objective for the day was Spry Canyon.

Tony and I had been through Spry some years earlier.  That trip sucked badly.  It was a cold October day, the canyon was full of water, and we had neglected to bring wetsuits.  I have never been so cold before or since.

This day was far more pleasant.  With forecast high temperatures over 100 degrees, we hustled to get to the top.  This proved to be a good strategy because we spent the entire canyon in the shade.

Spry is fun, but it isn't all that special.
However, it was a great place to get to know our new partners Byron and Anthony.

We sped through the canyon in 4 hours.  Afterwards we spent a couple of hours jumping into one of the Pine Creek swimming holes.  It was arguably the most fun part of the day.

  1. Fun day! And your timing with the backflip photo is astounding. First try with a digital camera that has a delay!

    1. Thanks! Doing the flip was WAY harder than taking the photo. I got a couple of practice shots with Tony and Steph, so the timing was not that difficult.
