On July 14th, 2019, Jordan, Tanner, Cara, Jackson, Byron, Tony, Steph and I did a lap through the West Fork of Fat Man's Misery. With temperatures soaring over 100 degrees, it was an awesome choice... well... until we had to hike back to the cars.
Grit. Determination. Positivity.
Tanner was a warrior every step of the way.

Just discovered your blog and love it. Hey, how long did it take your group car to car on this route? I have been eying this route and am trying to gauge how much time to plan for. Thank you
ReplyDeleteThanks Carla! I'm glad that you enjoy my blog. I think we took about 11 hours that day, but we were moving very slow - that route is punishing for larger individuals. If you have not done it before, then budget 10 hours and be happy if you beat that time. In 'normal mode' our core group would complete that route in 8 hours, mostly because we are familiar with the loop and we work efficiently as a team. The key to having fun on that route is starting your hike about 30 minutes before sunrise - that way the sun doesn't cook you during the approach, plus that timing will *probably* allow enough daylight at the end if you don't move as fast as expected. Have fun and be safe out there!
